Regular Season Men's Water Polo Champions!
Last night, the Grossmont College Men's water polo team celebrated a triumphant 23-10 victory over the Panthers of Southwestern College, securing the regular season championship with a perfect 5-0 in PCAC play. The energy in the pool was electric, and every (healthy) Griffin contributed to the win.
Freshman Ryan Motta led the charge with five goals and four assists, showcasing his skill and agility. Right on his heels was Xylen Rotsart, who matched him with five goals, an assist, and an ejection drawn, proving instrumental in the offense. Sophomore Jake Simpson also shone brightly, contributing three goals and three assists, helping to orchestrate the team's fluid play.
Defensively, goalies Zeke Antunez and Lon Kun-Szabo each made six crucial saves, stifling the opponents' attempts to close the gap. Their quick reflexes and composure under pressure provided the backbone for the team's success, allowing the offense to thrive.
With the win, the Griffins improve to 17-8 on the season and secure the number 1 seed for next week's PCAC championship tournament. The boys are back in the pool this weekend as they will face Mt. Sac, Ventura, #10 Cypress, and an always formidable El Camino squad.
