Coach Colton Stone Joins the Griffins

Grossmont College Athletics is excited to announce Colton Stone as the new Head Coach of the Griffins Men's Volleyball program.

Stone arrives at Grossmont with an impressive coaching background that spans NCAA Division I, high school, and elite club volleyball. Most recently, he served as an Assistant Coach for the UC San Diego women's volleyball program during the 2025 season, where he played an integral role in player development, scouting, match preparation, and practice planning at the Division I level.

Prior to UC San Diego, Stone coached with several of California's premier volleyball clubs, including Coast Volleyball Club, Wave Volleyball Club, Bay to Bay Volleyball Club, and C2 Attack Volleyball Club. Throughout his coaching career, he has helped develop numerous student-athletes who have advanced to collegiate volleyball while earning a reputation for building technically skilled players and fostering competitive, high-character team environments.

Stone also served as Head Coach at Berkeley High School, overseeing every aspect of the program, from player development and team culture to fundraising, budgeting, scheduling, travel coordination, and community engagement. His leadership and commitment to excellence have consistently elevated the programs he has been a part of.

As a former standout student-athlete at Purdue Fort Wayne, Stone enjoyed an outstanding collegiate career as an opposite hitter. A three-time MIVA Academic All-Conference selection, he earned MIVA Offensive Player of the Week honors and was named to the 2019 MIVA All-Tournament Team. He finished his career ranked ninth in program history with 102 career service aces while appearing in 90 matches and establishing himself as one of the conference's most dynamic all-around players.

Coach Stone's philosophy is centered on building a championship culture through accountability, relentless competitiveness, and continuous daily improvement. His commitment to developing student-athletes both academically and athletically aligns with the mission and values of Grossmont College Athletics.
